Becoming a dentist?

If i go to college to get an associates in dental hygiene then how many more years and what type of school would i go to to become a dentist

Becoming a dentist?
You would have to get a BS degree from a 4 year college. After that, dental school is another 4 years.
Reply:If you want to become a dentist you should get a Bachelors degree in a basic science such as Biology or Chemistry. Then you go to a 4 year dental school after that. I am a biology major!
Reply:You would have to finish a bachelor's degree after getting your associates degree in DH, and then go to 4 years of dental school. As the other responder mentioned, you should complete a degree in a science rather than dental hygiene. (or at least in a way that completes all the dental school prerequisites, such as inorganic %26amp; organic chemistry, biology, etc.)

BTW, there are certain advantages to having an RDH before going to dental school, such as having previous patient management experience, knowing how to take xrays, and how to perform dental exams and do scaling and root planing. It will put you light years ahead of your classmates with no patient experience. There is also the not-so-small advantage to being able to earn $25 - $45 per hour (depending on your location) for any part-time work you do while you're in dental school, and having a pipeline to possible board patients when you're ready to get a license!
Reply:HELLO DANI,

YOU DO HAVE A DISTINCT ADVANTAGE OVER MOST OF YOUR DENTAL SCHOOL CLASSMATES, WHO HAVEN'T HAD SIMILAR PATIENT EXPERIENCE.

TALK/WRITE THE DEAN OF STUDENT ADMISSIONS OF A DENTAL SCHOOL YOU WISH TO ATTEND AND ASK AS TO WHICH SUBJECTS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE COMPLETED A B.S. BEFORE DENTAL SCHOOL, AS THIS CAN BE EARNED CONCURRENTLY AS A B.S. IN DENTAL SCIENCE WHILE ALSO ATTENDING DENTAL SCHOOL AT THE SAME SCHOOL.
