I'm 22 and I still have all 4 of my wisdom teeth. Boo! They are growing crooked and my mouth now is tight so I can't floss and they hurt, blah blah blah, etc...everything usually associated with wisdom teeth.
So naturally I am having them pulled. It will be on the 19th (next Wednesday). I am about to lose insurance and don't know when I will have dental again. So with that I only have this month to do it which happens to be my busiest month. But he only does it Wednesdays so the 19th was really the only option that fits in my schedule. BUT. On the 26th I am leaving for San Antonio. It is an 8 hour ride. And we are stopping in Mexico for a day afterwards. Who would stop in Mexico without sampling Mexican food? Ha. I'll be in this area for about a week.
I am really worried about the swelling and pain. It is a week after the surgery, will/could I be fine? Any advice? Or am I just S.O.L.?
Wisdom teeth pulled a week from now, but what about a week later?
I've never had wisdom teeth pulled, but have had a root canal. You should be fine. Just make sure you take the pain meds they give you!
Reply:Actually, the pain meds made me nothing but sick. I mean, I threw up 5 times in about an hour. And that was with food! It sucked. Report It
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth pulled on a thurday and was eating spicy foods that saturday.....evne though i wasnt supposed to haha. um when you are eating it though try to not put the pressure directly on the stitches....obviously.
just avoid the whole using a straw thing and be careful when drinking out of bottles the suction could cause dry socket....which sucks big time.
its not too bad. the worst thing for me was the puffyness
Reply:Only you know how you will feel two weeks down the road. Usually they tell you to use a wet teabag on the site...You do not want a dry socket...The clot has to form and infection could set in. I would be careful about eating so that things can heal....
Reply:A week after extraction of wisdom teeth, you should be feeling more comfortable, but Mexican food will probably be out of the question! The areas in the back of your mouth will still be healing. Spices and sharp foods getting caught behind the last teeth can cause the areas not to heal properly and you could develop a very painful problem called a "dry socket", meaning it stops healing. Be gentle to yourself and take it easy.
