Two associate degrees...?

I will graduate with a general associates degree in the spring and then I will turn around and start the dental hygiene program which will give me another associates degree. My question is will these be two seperate associates degree or one higher degree? If a higher degree, which one?

these will be two separate associates degrees. they won't do you a whole lot of good in career searching unless being a dental hygienist is what you want to do for life. did you know that dental hygiene is the highest paying job for the least amount of education?

Reply:You will have two Associate Degrees, neither of which are worth more than the other. One will be an Associate of General Studies, and the other will be an Associate of Applied Science Degree.





Even though they are the same level of education, the AAS degree will be more valuable to you, as it is a specialized curriculum that will allow you to be trained in a specific field of study, much like a Master's degree.
Reply:Two separate degrees. Are you sure you will get a degree for the hygiene program? That's occupational training and usually colleges grant certificates instead of full blown degrees for those.
Reply:Not at all. Two associate degrees do not sum up to something higher. That's not how education works. 17 Master's degrees do not equate to a doctorate.
Reply:The associates in dental hygiene will get you a decent job so you can eat and move away from home. If you continue to get your bachelors and masters in a health science field via Internet or night school you will open more doors in the next few of years, by having both the paper and the experience.
Reply:They are considered to be 2 seperate degrees since they are in different fields of study. With that much education under your belt, you should consider a 4 yr school sometime in the future. That's what I did. Got a 2 then a couple yrs later went to a 4 yr school and got a bachelor's.
